Oscar wins a competition!Very strange goings on today. The humans have been following me around with a camera, it's like being under surveillance. They seem to have got it in their heads that I would like my photograph on the world wide web and are entering me for a 'cat photo' competition. I ask you, not very dignified is it? I have been suitably uncooperative, posing in unbecoming positions, launching into frenzied licking sessions and hiding in the garden shed. But they eventually caught me unawares when I was side-tracked by a dish of tuna. Hope I don't come out blurred.
Hmmm... they've printed some of their efforts out now. Some have the end of my tail missing, one even has no head! To be fair one of them nearly does justice to my good looks and I manage to push them towards selecting that one - they had little choice when I knocked the rest on the floor and had a quick chew of them.
WOW. I'm on the web! I have my own web page! I've won the competition! I never had any doubt really - it was unlikely that anyone could have looked as good as me. I have been put in front of the computer for a look at myself. Of course I played it really cool - after all I'm a star now.
I've had a sneaky look at the comments about me on the web site. I'm described as 'an adorable rascal with a penchant for cardboard boxes and tuna'. So what's a penchant, huh? Is this good or bad?
The humans have been basking in the reflected glory of my new found stardom. People they have avoided talking to for months have suddenly been telephoned and casually told that Oscar is now 'on the net'. That's as maybe but it hasn't improved the tuna rations!
Later the same week... a large cardboard box arrived today. My competition prize. I've tried circling it, sitting on it, chewing it but they still will not open it. It has been put away until 'Christmas'. It's not fair - it's my prize and I want it now!
So how long do I have to wait for Christmas to come?
I'm a cat... I'm not patient. Cats don't do patient. |
